New lawn mower today

Ok the problem with the old petrol mower with electric start was a heavy machine, nothing wrong with that as the electric start helped. It was built buy a company called Webb and replacement parts getting hard to find as this one was around 11 years old. The other problem it started "hunting", engine not running smoothly. Just could not clear the fault. Sue could not use the pull cord on it was another factor as it took a bit of strength to use.

So time to scrap it and get a new one.

So we spent time on the internet looking at different ones and Honda have an easy start pull cord system and a lot lighter albeit with a 16 inch cut against an 18" one the Webb had.
it is ok looking on the web but we wanted to see physically see one ,so off we went to a specialist garden equipment shop . We could have gone to one of the DIY places but no experts there to inform.

At the Garden equipment shop who only deal with everything for the garden machine wise Sue had a go trying this one out to see if she could start it on the pull cord, and she could.

WE also looked at the 18" version but that was about £80 more to gain the extra 2" cut with the same engine but a bigger collection bag. Well with didn't think that was really worth the extra money.

This one is an easy start model by Honda

So here it is now ready to use with power drive so no hard pushing

It all depends on garden size I suppose, I have never really been happy with anything battery powered for the garden. Sue has a hedge trimmer battery powered and it to my mind is gutless against my petrol one

Just looked up the Cobra battery powered one and it says 40 min. run time. What it doesn't say is 40 run time cutting grass, that can make a huge difference. A lot of the "bench test" times are stated to make it look good and not break the advertising laws.

then 1.25 hours to recharge. which puts me off

However it is what one is happy with that matters

I also have a petrol mower as back up, but I find the battery mower lasts, long enough to cut our lawns, but yes , it depends on how much grass you have to cut, I always charge it after use so it’s ready next time
