Re: Local elections 2nd May - What's the plan?

If everyone who doesn't spoil their papers votes Tory or Labour they will be counted and one of those two will win. That's why I think voting for any other party means at least there will be a small chance that the two main ones won't win.

Re: Local elections 2nd May - What's the plan?

I wouldnt know who to vote for these days.
I did an online questionnaire to see which party I should vote for and my match came up as
76% Ukip
51% Labour
48% Conservative
42% Liberal
32% Green

I was totally shocked at my results but even so it still doesnt answer my questions so I'm still stuck.
Ukip seem to have moved hard right.
Labour has Corbyn and that other idiot Dianne Abbot
Conservatives I could never vote for ever and the same for the liberals after the lies from that Clegg.
I get regular emails from the green party but as with all the above theres so many things they say I dont agree with.

This is the quiz but if you do it please note that you can click at the end of each section to answer further questions which I did hoping to get a fuller picture of myself.

Boy was I shocked. Anyway got to go now to polish my jackboots.

Re: Local elections 2nd May - What's the plan?

89% UKIP
58% Con
38% Lib Dem
29% Green

This is more or less what I would have expected

Interesting though, as for many years I supported Labour, and voted for Tony Blair in 1997, but now I am quite disillusioned with all the mainstream parties, who seem to be less & less inclined to support Britain or deal seriously with problems, hence my support for UKIP

Re: Local elections 2nd May - What's the plan?

I live in what is known as a Village in a London Borough.

We have for the last 20 years voted for local independents.

No Tory No Labour no Libs.

In fact at the last elections they were opposed by another group of Local Independents and also one UKIP.

The Tory Labour and Libs got very few votes even the lone UIKP had more.

Was close between the two Independent groups.

Start in your local area to form Independent local people with no strong ties to political parties for election.

Spoiling your voting paper is not the answer.

Re: Local elections 2nd May - What's the plan?

I think I am going to wait and see who is on the paper as most years the two main parties are there but the others are lunatics and while I don't want Tories again I am not sure a lunatic would help this situation we are in. Although it's a moot point really as no matter who I vote for the stanch tory territory here will win everytime anyway.

I agree with that, except that this quiz takes no account of our present feelings about the Conservative party!

NB - I did it again answering all the additional questions:

89% UKIP
70% Conservative
31% Limp Dem
29% Labour
22% Green

This seems to make a noticeable difference. Perhaps others should try it.

What will you be doing?
I probably won't bother to vote, but I may decide to spoil my paper as, if many others do the same, this will at least send a message to the authorities of how we feel about the pointlessness of actually voting if our votes are ignored.
