Bristol waterside walk

Having arrived at my hotel early, it seemed a shame not to make the most of such beautiful weather and surroundings, so I went for a walk with my trusty camera.

A bridge over the "New Cut". This was dug by navvies to become the new tidal route for the river River, aka Avon thus allowing Bristol docks and harbourside to be non-tidal and controlled by lock gates.

One of several marinas.

Many (deck) hands make light work.

Blimey, it must have been a high tide to strand that boat up there!

A footbridge bridge over the New Cut.

Dockside railway as it passes under a road to run alongside the New Cut.

Road, rail, and river.

Sailing Club with Underfall Yard, a working boatyard in the background.

In for repairs. Whist open to the public, it's still a working boatyard.

The old Pumphouse, used to keep the water level in the docks at a constant depth.

Pumphouse chimley.

One of the locals drying off after a spot of fishing.

All buoyed up.

The one I caught yesterday was this big.

Doing the doggy paddle.

All the colours of the rainbow.

Recycled ship's lifeboat.

Give me a hand.

A floating pub. Well beer isn't just for breakfast you know.

Floating floral display.

Bristol Marina.

It's cheeeese, Gromit. In the window of Aardman Animations offices.

Aparantly the penthouse apartment is valued at about £1 million.

Outside the SS Great Britain exhibition.
Anchors aweigh!

It's a fluke!

A tall ship alongside the most excellent M Shed (free entry) museum.

On the opposite side of the harbour.

Possibly part of the old city wall.

Harbourside apartments. I bet they aren't cheap either.

On the apartments' doorsteps.

The top of the old hospital, now being converted to flats.
