Re: skirret

I’ve never heard of Skirret, I’ll be interested to read how you get on with your seed growing, Galty.

Mags thank you for the link as it shows how to grow.

I grow a spring onion TYPE which I got off a West Indian plot holder next to me which looks like it grows the same.

When you want it at any time of the year dig up and take a bit off and then plant the rest for a later date.

Re: skirret

I've never heard of it either.
Funny looking stuff isn't it. Looks a bit like skinny Parnsips.

There's a bit more info on growing it here:

Re: skirret

Have ordered some seeds.

Will plant in my Alloti where I try to grow plants that attracted the Honey Bee such as rosemary and others.
Seems the stems grow to three foot and produce flowers that attract the bees later on in the season

Re: skirret

Does anyone remember watching the Victorian kitchen garden?

I loved that programme
