We wanted a pine four-drawer unit and went to a couple of local shops to look at some. We'd already seen one online for £70-00 and might have paid a little over that to keep the trade local. However, the unit cost literally more than double in the shops. What could we do? I felt bad for not buying locally (both shops were empty of customers when we went in them) but we just couldn't pay that price. It's ordered online now.

Maybe the quality of the units in the local shops are better than the one we've ordered online and that's why they are much more expensive. A possibility I suppose.

I went to Tescos earlier, . . I had to laugh, everyone was going around the store like zombies, . . they had the Christmas aftershock look.

Why do we do it ?

Re: Don't get too relaxed

We went to Asda earlier. The car park was packed. It must have taken 25 minutes to get in, drive around and come out again without finding a space. It was during that time I asked that same question Nero .

We went to another car park saying that if there wasn't a space there, we'd go home and come back on Monday. We did find a space as it turned out and ended up going into Asda's afterall. It was blinkin' chaos in there too!

Most of the places here aren't really "local", they're chains. So I have no qualms about online shipping, the convenience is wonderful; no lugging things home on the bus and subway! And the time saved!
