Re: Shall we hibernate?

Actually it`s quite beautiful out now - the sun shining and a light fall of snow. All sparkly. And firm underfoot so no mud.
I`ve taken the dogs out and am now enjoying sitting by the fire with tea and hot buttered crumpets.
Now you can`t do that in August can you? (well, last august you probably did!)

Re: Shall we hibernate?

Other than the fire, I could ... and have! August is my favorite month; I love the hot weather. Our Summer was cooler than usual here, never made the 100s (F) once.

Re: Shall we hibernate?

My tortoises are hibernating in the fridge which is set at 5.0c, considerably warmer than it is outside here. They will sleep until March (or longer, if I leave them in the fridge).

So -when you open the door, do they think it`s Spring? Handy for a munch on the lettuce, I suppose.

No, they are each in a cardboard box surrounded by shredded paper so don't notice that the door has been opened. They might be mistaken for frozen burgers if they weren't tucked out of sight

Re: Shall we hibernate?

I'm actually dreading the thaw when it does happen, . . . ankle deep in mud, . . and floods.

Re: Shall we hibernate?

Fortunately I'm in one of the higher parts of the City, so no flood or mud worries here!
