Woman injured in William & Kate convoy crash

An elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a police convoy escorting Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The Duke and Duchess have been in contact with the woman, Kensington Palace said, after she was taken to hospital following an incident with a police motorbike involved in the convoy.
The couple were on their way to Windsor for a chapel service when the incident occurred in Richmond, west London, on Monday afternoon.

Obviously William & Kate cannot be blamed for the accident but is it right that this family are whizzed around London at great expense just to attend some ridiculous function which involves dressing up in stupid hats? Why is it so important that other road users are held up to allow them through at high speed?

Why do they need a police escort to begin with? Won't it draw attention to whomever is in the car? Better to have a solitary chauffeur driven car with perhaps a security cop in attendance in the passenger seat.

I thought they had amassed enough of our hard-earned taxpaying money to afford to be swanned around in a helicopter. They really are roughing it by using a fleet of limousines aren't they?
Or is Andy's chopper not available this week?

The police motorcyclist was on his own. He'd gone ahead to check out the route or something. He was not in a convoy.

(As per the news this morning).

He's still linked to the accident by the royal occasion though, Pyxell? he didn't just decide to go out for a bike ride.

I saw that on the news a little while ago. Wonder if the elderly woman stepped out in front of the motor cycle, or did the motor cyclist jump the lights there. We'll know after they've investigated.

Yes, sure, but he wasn't part of the convoy!

For goodness' sake!

Sorry, am out of here.

Am sick and tired of people knocking the Royals for things totally out of their control.
