Re: 1888 general store... thinking about it
Yes Pixie - we went through it once already and will probably go again soon to look at it more carefully. There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and other than some water damaged bedroom ceilings the interior is in decent shape. The roof has been fixed so that shouldn't be an issue any more. The basement is a concern - all brick and the floor was quite wet, even muddy in spots.Re: 1888 general store... thinking about it
Believe me Sue, that is an absolutely bargain price. Even my house is worth a little less than twice that, and it's only an ordinary three double-bedroomed house standing on a small plot of land. Thing is, over here, it's the land that's worth more than the buildings.Re: 1888 general store... thinking about it

Well nothing's happened yet... most current news is that the cost of insurance would be about $7000 per year, based on the building being worth $1.2 million if completely restored. The current owner can't afford replacement cost so he's got it insured for $150,000. My banker thinks I should get a mortgage since I'd be downsizing but since I'm self-employed it's become an issue.Re: 1888 general store... thinking about it
