Whatever actually happened is not known as yet, one thing for sure the DM will seize on anything it can to cause more division and mistrust.
It specialises in creating xenophobia and whatever happened on the boat stirring up more trouble and hatred is not the way to deal with it.

But sadly it's not easy to get away from the basic tribalism that is the curse of our human condition and causes so much death and misery.

Nothing Patsy but as Christian I would want further information before condemning anyone. Desperate people make desperate decisions and we don't know what prompted this yet as far as I can see.

It's knee jerk reactions to things I get fed up with. And the relish with which some people report these things leaves a nasty taste

That is exactly what is so distasteful to me, that people are so happy to have what they see as 'proof' that some people have to be bad based on their religion and some have to be good.

That is dangerous thinking that promotes more trouble and I have no respect for the tabloids who print these controversial headlines.

I agree - but as I watched - I was very concerned as to 'who' we may be letting into our country - we need very stringent checks ......

Oh I agree completely, I would have thought all countries should have stringent checks these days, this easy mobility may be convenient but it is allowing some very dangerous people to wander around the world at will.

We have to accept that this story has extra on it now with more news.
Seems these 15 were arguing with the 12 and they threw them over.
The 15 were also going to throw more overboard but the others on
the boat as it was crowded made a chain to stop them grabbing individuals
They have been arrested so at least something has been done about them.
The trouble with the boat people shall we call them, is some don't have
any identification so you could be taking in future terrorists amongst
them.
I think the good idea given the other day is to start putting
up staging posts over on the African coast near to where they all set
off and at least sorting them out instead of getting the mass coming
in all at once. I should imagine that about 90% of them are genuine
and who would want to live in Syria or Libya at the moment no
matter what religion you are. I feel sorry for the Italian as well
as they are the ones receiving all of these people. 10,000 in
one week and 900 the other day. Can you imagine here in the
UK if that happened to us. I am not bothered what religion they
are but as people I am bothered. They need to grab the traffickers
and as someone said the other day on the news shoot them out
of the water.

Lets throw some Christians in the sea, then we will be put into prison for life, we will get life, 3 meals a day, play games and have TV all day.
Mugs we are just plain stupid, we should have turned that boat around and sent it from where it came, the message has got to go back to their own country we are no longer a sure soft touch.
I will vote for the party strong enough to do this.
