restless leg syndrome

Does anyone else suffer from this?

I take it now and again, usually when I'm very tired. It's such an uncomfortable feeling and I can't keep my legs at peace. It's even worse at night when in bed. I've been known to get up and pace the floor. It disappears eventually as quick as it came, but it's such an unpleasant feeling at the time.

I know my mum has had it before and agrees it's a blooming nuisance.

Re: restless leg syndrome

Yes Alice I have RLS & it's mighty unpleasant. It also affects my arms.
There is no escape from this horrible crawling feeling, which is difficult to describe & comes in waves. It's worse at night

I was advised to drink TONIC WATER every day, it contains quinine which seems to have kept it largely at bay. so far............

Yes RJ I think I've heard about quinine. I feel for you having it on your arms as well. It's so irritating and won't go away until it wants to!!

Yes. I get periods of it. Then it goes for a while. I know this came up on another forum a couple of years ago and it is surprising the number of people who are affected by RSL. I have back problems too so I have always wondered if that is what caused the problem.

Re: restless leg syndrome

Celyn it is a funny one. I only get periods of it, then it goes for a while, then comes back. I've put it down to being tired, but that's probably not the case.

I've seen medical pages in magazines with posts of RLS and it is a common complaint. Funny how some people suffer from it and others don't? Not that I'd wish it on them!!

Re: restless leg syndrome

I used to suffer from it but since I've taken to G&T it doesn't bother me - tonic contains quinine.

Re: restless leg syndrome

Why I think it is my back is because its when I am sitting. I dont get RLS in bed.

Doesny Coca Cola contain Quinine too?

Re: restless leg syndrome

So far I have only had RLS when in bed and it doesn't happen very often.

Tonic water is supposed to also help relieve cramp.

My mother used to have bouts of it - so bad that she would kick my poor Dad black and blue - but it never woke her up!

Yes that's what my hubby does, a glass of tonic water in the evening...as recommended by our GP...works for him too.
