Re: Diabetic foot problems

My feet are still very ticklish-just one touch by the nurse and I feel it.

But levity aside-keep it checked.

Re: Diabetic foot problems

My Dad had type 1 diabetes from the age of 21-89. He took great care of his feet visiting a chiropodist regularly.
He maintained sticking to a diet was very important helping to keep his condition under control and his body (including his feet ) healthy.
He lost a big toe in his 70s and had leg ulcers in later life but I think he did very well all things considered .

Re: Diabetic foot problems

There is a lot of difference between type 1 and type 2.

When I was a child the word diabetes was very scary.

Re: Diabetic foot problems

Hi Non, I have Diabetic foot problems, my toes hurt during the day and when I go to bed they are completely numb, I tell the Diabetic specialist everytime I go there, but there is nothing that can be done.

Yes that is so the OP does not specify a type...

Re: Diabetic foot problems

Type II diabetic for around 15 years and no problems at all. I don't do anything special other than flex my toes a lot every time I am sitting or as I am in bed waiting to fall asleep. My toes seem a bit sensitive to the friction of the quilt at times, and sometimes get slightly chilly in bed, but through the day they are fine.

Re: Diabetic foot problems

My father became diabetic-trouble was his feet stank so badly no nurse dare go near them.

I know I go on about it but him and personal hygeine were strangers.

Re: Diabetic foot problems

Are you having problems with your feet due to diabetes Nom?

It's quite common especially with type 1, it's really important to take extra care of your feet and watch the circulation. There is good information available on this subject on line.
