Mince Pies

Have you had your 1st yet.
I one with a coffee after coming in from shopping, just delicious.
[plus I made a wish , as I always do when I eat the first thing of any season].

Re: Mince Pies

I have made a few gallons of mincemeat (with organic fruit steeped in rum, maybe not quite that much but it felt like it when I was chopping fruit ) and am about to make my first batch on Thursday so when my son comes to lunch he can take a tin full for my three small grandchildren who love them .

Re: Mince Pies

I don't make my mince pies until December but I have been buying Sainsburys own make. They are delicious, usually I find shop bought Mince pies far too sweet as they put too much filling in them but these are just how I like them.

My daughter and granddaughter are visiting tomorrow morning and I was reminded not to forget the mince pies

Re: Mince Pies

I'm no good at making pastry so buy mine every year.
I see that Iceland were voted number 1 this year in the blind eating test by Good Housekeeping so have ordered 4 boxes of their 6 Luxury Mince Pies to be delivered with my Party Buffet foodstuffs during the Christmas week.

Who would have thought it! Iceland beating such as Harrods, Waitrose and other leading supermarkets.

I love the ones you can get in Sainsbury's cafe for 50p with a cup of coffee. The pastry's really buttery.

Same here susie, don't like mince pies, I prefer a sausage roll. I will eat a tiny bit of Christmas pudding purely for tradition really, I suppose.
