That sounds a nice simple recipe even I could manage ...

I've always wondered if roast chestnuts are nice too and how is best to do them.

I've happy memories of roasting them over an oven fire on a small shovel Morticia.
It was important to cut a slit/cross in them first though otherwise they went bang!
Hot chestnut shrapnel everywhere.

I heeded your advice and didn't add anything to the almonds. Superb!....simplicity itself and very tasty too.
The heating seemed to bring out the flavour of the almonds, something similar to toasting spices in a dry pan when making curry perhaps?
