lens difference test

Thought ,as it is wet outside, I would do a direct comparison between the Tamron G2 and the Nikon 24-70mm G lens @ f2.8 at 70mm
Same camera Nikon D810 same settings same distance away

Jpeg unedited apart from same crop

Tamron lens

Nikon lens

to me the Tamron lens produces a clearer picture with more definition.
your opinion please

Conditions are very different, the second was taken in quite harsh sunlight.

Re: lens difference test

I usually buy Tamron lenses as the quality for the price is excellent and a fair bit cheaper than the camera's own make. My last one is an all-rounder - 28*mm-150*mm auto zoom lens with a Pentax mount. Very pleased with it.

both lenses @ f2.8 so I don't quite understand what you mean by "one being a faster Lens"

focus speed doesn't come into it as both focus first before shutter actuation .See in menu a1 and a2

this is a direct comparison, the only difference is possibly lens size 77mm v 82mm so one may just let in a litttle more light onto the sensor, depending on how a lens is constructed.

Even so to me the tamron produces a sharper picture ands no filters used either

Right ... you've edited the OP, you've switched pictures, a bit unfair when asking peoples opinion.

Anyway, looks like your Nikon lens is duff, best sell it, £500 if you're lucky, or keep it for future OFF comparison threads.

Re: lens difference test

Doods
Maybe that is why I could never get sharp photos with it whatever I did to try and correct. Previously not having another lens to compare it with I assumed it was ok.

In which case any advice would be pointless no matter how helpful.

Re: lens difference test

Just checked and that Tamron lens has now increased in price by £67 from the company I got it from. Glad I bought it when I did
