He was raising money for mental health charities for services personnel (the All Call Signs and the Support Our Paras charities).

Raising money to support these charities is certainly a very good thing but there are safer ways to do it surely .
I read that he has a head injury do we know how he is . Immagine the shock to the body when hitting the water

AFAIK, he was checked as OK. He hit the water at 80 mph apparently.

He's hoping to raise £5000 from his record "attempt".

I'm surprised he didn't break any bones.

Not as high as Durdle Door.

There’s an AD 2000 clip where the lad climbs it all the way, and then leaps.

Of course, the more recent clips are less glamorous.

Apparently:

https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/...e-door-4193845

Since 2004 the Coastguard has dealt with over 200 incidents, with 70 injuries and 20 deaths. Of those injured the youngest was 12 and the oldest was 45. Around 20% of injuries are spinal and are people have been left paralysed.
IMO, any amateur who attempts such a jump is stupid .....

He should have used an ejector seat.

Yes, jumping from a great height can be stupid. It takes training

In my training I repeatedly clenched the sphincter approaching impacts, and ensured testicles were not ripped completely from my body.

If the training isn’t enough. a diver-assist, so-called, is the leaper’s backstop solution for retrieval and repair to the micro surgery.

Knowledge acquired over many years at the pool.

Re: Ex-paratrooper attempts record jump from helicopter without parachute

Hi

I am scared of heights.

I have, in the interests of Charity, abseiled down an 8 storey building.

Eyes shut all the way down.

It is not something I will ever do again.

Absolutely petrified.

Facing off two machete wielding ISIS idiots is not an issue for me.

I am confident about that.

Heights I cannot cope with.

I am a wimp and freely admit it.

Dealing with my teenage daughter was far more scary than dealing with Terrorists.
