The HCEOs on this show never acted as thugs. They took a lot of abuse from people and would always diffuse volatile situations and calm them down. They never insulted anyone, or raise their voices. They would stand and take whatever was thrown at them.

Eventually the angry ones, when calm, would shake their hands and say 'you're only doing your job.'

The ones that I encountered a few years back acted very much like thugs, but they were not on TV of course.
For some reason they could not count or tell the difference between a black man and a white one.

I feel sorry for these blokes,it must be soul destroying to realise that being bald headed your choice of occupation is limited to being a bailif,a club doorman or a cop.

I only ever met one that I'd describe as a thug, all the others were nice men doing a crappy job to best of their ability. They had a thankless job trying to get money from people with very little, and tried to keep the situation dignified for everyone as they knew who was at fault and who was an innocent person caught up in it all.

I agree Purwell. I think being on TV is the difference. Bailiffs or debt collectors were always big thugs. That may have changed recently, I don't know. Luckily, I don't have dealings with them any more.

IMO it's more to do with how you treat them, if you are reasonable they will be too.

Difficult to be reasonable towards someone who is threatening to remove things from your house.
