Meat eaters.

If in order to eat meat you had to kill the animal/bird first, would you? Or would you become a vegetarian?

I'd become a vegetarian straight away.

Re: Meat eaters.

I would be a bit uncomfortable at first but I'm sure I'd get used to it. I have killed fowl when I was a teenager and my dad kept hens.

Re: Meat eaters.

As I have never been near to dying from starvation I could not make that decision

Me too! I hardly eat any meat at all but if I had to kill an animal I couldn't do it. my daughter said to me, 'Don't eat anything with a face.'

Re: Meat eaters.

I would have to be a veggie as I couldn't kill something to eat.
I don't kill flies I let them out of the house

I have killed cat fleas but that is my limit of killing.

I would defend myself though if someone or animal came to kill me.

Re: Meat eaters.

Meat has been getting a bad rap on TV lately. Comments are that fried meat can cause cancer. Not sure if that is true. Thing is, everything seems to cause cancer nowadays. Tea, coffee, fish and the sun. We are all going to die eventually. So my philosophy is live life in moderation and above all live the moment.

Re: Meat eaters.

My husband I believe could, he used to kill and dress hens and ducks as a teenager and helped to kill and butcher sheep in his first job out of school.

Re: Meat eaters.

I have never been able to kill. Even if a bird was sick, I had to ask an experienced friend to dispatch it.

Re: Meat eaters.

If it was to keep myself fed and alive, then yes i would and i love animals. But those that say they could not, would you eat meat that was killed by say your partner ? Would that not make you complicit in the animals death anyway.

Re: Meat eaters.

I don't know how anyone could possibly say what they would do if they were starving .

I would find it very difficult to kill anything for food but I can't say I would never do it.
