1985: Against the stereotype

The normal image of cowboys is that they are hard fighters and drinkers. Here the joke is based on the unlikeliness of this scenario.

1982: How times have changed

Even without the efforts of the Animal Liberation Front we are not inclined to find anything funny in this cartoon. I suppose that the cancerous effect of smoking had not yet been firmly established. Even so…

1982: Natural selection

This cartoon immediately makes me think about Darwin’s Origin of Species.

1982: Fancy titles

By 1982 we were being presented with many examples of job title inflation. Road sweepers were being called Garbage Removal Operatives. Any other examples come to mind?
