Jackdaw

I was out feeding my plants today when this Jackdaw appeared .
It looked perfectly healthy and could fly well .
It came right up close to me and was following me about .
When I went into the house it was trying to follow me there too ! It then began pecking at my shoes and as I walked away it flew onto my shoulder
This continued the entire time I was out there . OH looked out of the window and was amazed .
He asked me its name and I said "Dopey "
Never had anything like this happen before has anyone else?

Re: Jackdaw

Sounds like somebody has made a pet of it. A lovely thing to happen though. The closest I can come to anything like that is huge spiders always follow me around the house until I call my wife to remove them.

Re: Jackdaw

Feed it and teach it to talk!
When I was young our neighbours had one that used to visit, it would say it's name, "Jackie" (not very original). They're very clever!

Re: Jackdaw

I would but I have cats so it wouldn't be safe here .
When I was young my Aunt had a couple of Jackdaws . They had been found as fledglings and hand reared . She called they Jackie and Sammy !
They stayed around for a while and then flew off.

Re: Jackdaw

I have heard similar stories , ae Ezy says it is probably a bird that someone has raised so it has become tame and used to humans.

When I was a little girl a neighbour had a tame Jackdaw that used to sit on your shoulder to take a piece of bread.
