Welsh Cakes?

Did someone recently mention these Welsh Cakes, I forgot at the time to respond, and now lost who said wot!!

However, just wanted to say LOVE 'EM. Have only found them in Marks & Spencer. But presume the original recipe in Wales are even nicer!

Azz, do you buy yours from M & S too, or somewhere else?

Re: Welsh Cakes?

Here in wales they're for sale in all bakerys and most village stores and even the garages with shops. They're scrummy fresh and warm.. The ones ive bought in prepacked not so home made packs have tended to be a bit dry. The chip shop I frequent for my coffee and watch the dolphins serves a mug of coffee and welsh cake with butter for £1.60.

That sounds lovely Cassie. I had coffee with a friend out today (and just the coffee) cost £2.50

You had the pleasure of dolphins too!!

Re: Welsh Cakes?

I haven't had any for years Rainbow - as I no longer have anything with sugar in it.

But if I did M&S would be a top choice, or if you can, like Cassie said, a proper bakery - as they will be lovely and fresh... yum!

Re: Welsh Cakes?

Just to say that I started chatting about Welsh Cakes with a nice cup of tea in the Tea or Coffee thread in Food & Drink and have just posted a traditional Welsh Cake Recipe. The recipe is foolproof, quick and easy and delicious if anyone is interested - yummy!!

Ha so it was you Dolly who first mentioned them, but I could not remember who! Thanks so much for taking the trouble of posting a recipe too for them. Much appreciated. They are yummy.
