it annoys me when you can't open a large jar of beetroot, then you get out the jar opening tool and the lid is on that tight that the tool snaps!

This happened to me and my husband last night, we struggled ages to get the lid off, hurting our hands then resorted to the tool and that was useless too.

Run very hot water round the rim of the lid - turn the jar upside down - bang the lid hard against a table or something - sounds bizarre but it works!

Just pierce the lid of the jar and it'll come off in a jiffy.
