Moaners in knots?

From what lv'e seen on TV today , all the news channells
and political discussion panels have been tying themselves
into knots trying to play down or discredit the Brexit parties
continuing success in gaining voter support countrywide!
In Peterborough they have managed to get almost 30% of
the vote, starting from a zero base just 8 weeks ago!
This represents a sustained growth in support especially in
view of the fact that labour support fell by 28%!
And the Lib- Dem recent landslide appears to have fizzled
out?
Lets see what the Tory response is to Nigels letter?
Could be quite interesting, allthough l dont think any Tory
remainers should be included in any negotiations that may
be entered into in future!

Re: Moaners in knots?

A headline on the BBC news website:

Labour sees off Brexit Party in by-election.

Hardly seeing off, more like just scraped into the lead by a very tiny minority. (Wonder if there should be another by-election seeing as how the results were so close?)

Of course, One Trick Pony Corbyn is seeing their `success` as a call for a general election. Any excuse to get into power.

Re: Moaners in knots?

Labour in their eagerness to spin their win neglected to mention their vote dropped 17.2 % from the GE
Labour 30.9% (change -17.2)
Brexit party 28.9 (+28.9)
Conservative 21.4 (-25.5)
Lib Dem 12.3 (+8.9)
Green 3.1
Ukip 1.2
Others 2.4
Following the new ridiculious fashion for adding results together, pro leave parties = 28.9 + 21.4 + 1.2 = total 51. 5
Pro remain 12.3 +30.9+ 3.1 = total 46.3

Leave wins again

Hi

Some simply cannot understand what Democracy means.

It was a free vote and the people voted Leave.

Simple really.

Re: Moaners in knots?

I can't see what you are all whinging about. Labour supports leaving the EU doesn't it?

From Labour's web site:

Labour’s priority is to get the best Brexit deal for jobs and living standards, to underpin our plans to upgrade the economy and invest in every community and region.

But this government’s divisions, incompetence and deregulation obsession put that at risk.

During the transition period, Labour would seek to remain in a customs union with the EU and within the single market. That means we would abide by the existing rules of both.
Who can disagree with the second para?

Close vote like this shows how important a preferential system is. It would be interesting to see how the preferences flowed. You can't just add the totals up because that is not how preferences flow.

In the first past the post system no one 'scrapes' in you either win or you lose, Labour won, the rest lost.

Just lately were past the point where winning or loosing matters.

I assume your talking about the Peterborough result Brucy!
I am not whinging about theRESULT which was a resounding
success for the Brexit Party as l explained in my earlier post?
But l was whinging about the contortions of the remain camp
to spin the results to !ook like Nigel had failed!
How can a loss of almost 30% of voter support translate to
a win for labour? May be you see it this way because Ossie
is upside down due to its position on the globe?
