Along the Bóithrín

This little Boithrin* leads from my street through to the main road - and the 'bus stop. Today it was heavily scented - elder flowers at the beginning and wild roses in the hedgerow, all basking in the very warm sunshine.

The hedge is mainly Hawthorn with bits of Bramble, Briar, and Mahonia - probably donated by the birds. Behind the hedge there are 20 huge Horse Chestnut trees.

I often use this location as part of the 'Going Wild for 30 days' campaign as - apart from the flora it is also a good source of fauna - birds, squirrels, bees, butterflies etc.,

*Boithrin - Irish - pronounced Boreen = Lane/cart track

Re: Along the Bóithrín

Thank you very much - I enjoy the walk to the 'bus at this time of year. Can be a bit grim in Winter.

We have a route like that. Free from traffic for ideal for dog walking.
