My cats and the Christmas tree.

I've been on guard duty all week trying to prevent my two cats from destroying the Christmas tree decorations. Just when I think they have forgotten about it, I notice the tree starting to wobble and then there's the unmistakeable rustling noise as they try to remove Santa and co.

This morning, I let my guard down and came in to find a snow man in the middle of the room. One or both of them had carried out a secret raid on the tree, removed the item and then retreated to the dining room looking like butter wouldn't melt.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, I'm right there with ya. I have 2 cats. My boy, Alex, never bothers the tree. But my girl, Ally, is always getting into it, just like she's always getting into everything else. It's like having a toddler around the house. Because of her alone, I have to cat-proof everything.

Trees with ornaments are a cat's, and some dogs, delight!
No tree for us this year - too much for our Mungo boy.
Good luck with yours!

I'm very lucky with Coco, she has never touched the tree or ornaments, but if I put chocolate money on the window seal with fake snow then she will throw them onto the floor. Our last Cat Billy used to have the tree down every year.

Re: My cats and the Christmas tree.

Marge insists that she wants a Christmas tree again this year, despite our two new kittens.

Between eating and sleeping (and the occasional poo) they run around frantically chasing anything they can find and also fighting each other.

Yet she still can't see any potential problems with a tree!

Another Simon's Cat fan here!
Love the video!
I'm feeling a bit smug knowing we don't have that bother any more. We have one kitty now, and he's never been bothered with a tree. Maybe because he loves to climb the ones outside!

Re: My cats and the Christmas tree.

Here's something different for you - a friend of mine used to have a Boa Constrictor named, not too surprising, Bo. She was pretty big. My friend would get her out of the cage and let her wander around. We would be hanging out and sitting around drinking watching movies, etc, and Bo would slither up into your lap and curl up to get warm, etc.

Well, one Christmas, Bo got up into the Christmas tree and wrapped herself around the entire length of the tree trunk, from the bottom all the way up to the top of the tree. But that wasn't as bad as the time she found her way up into the back of the couch - inside the back of the couch. We had to literally cut away the fabric of the back of the couch to get her out of there, LOL. So she was worse than dealing with a cat.

Re: My cats and the Christmas tree.

We put the tree on a table, mainly because of the dog, but means the cats are also less interested.
