I sorted this out today, by the way. I ended up with a sealant called "Go Pro", which actually works underwater. However, I drained the system completely, dried it all first just to make sure. All sorted out, thanks chaps

Never tried Go Pro but find the V-Plus very good.
All our disabled toilets are bottom entry and they can be a real pain to change the valves.
It is very easy to cross thread the brass fitting onto the plastic one as well.
