Electric Roads?

England to test charge-as-you-drive 'electric motorways'

What a cracking idea. Already up and running in certain parts but mainly for buses.

South Korea has fitted a stretch of road with equipment to wirelessly charge special buses

Electric cables buried under the road are used to generate electromagnetic fields, which are picked up by a coil inside the device and converted into electricity.
Now if this could somehow be used to power cars of the future then the possibilities really are far reaching, such as never having to recharge your electric car!

Re: Electric Roads?

It does sound good idea Mark

Thre was an item on the news yesterday about a breakthrough in battery technology which I understand should lead to the production of chargable batteries with a much longer life for many items including mobile phones and cars making the latter a more viable option.
