Re: Your favourite flowers..

I must be weird as I love flowers as long as they are in the garden.
I don't like smelling flowers in the house and I was once bought
some Lilies and was ill for a week without realising my alleged
"hay fever" was the Lillies. Even one of my cats had it too and it
cost me £50 to take him to the Vets for some anti-biotics as they
didn't really know what was wrong with him.
So my Mothers Day present from one of my sons cost me £50 and a week of not being well.
Oh yes and the tissues

Sandy, beware of having lilies in the house or growing in the garden as they are toxic to cats. Cats can suffer from kidney failure after ingesting even tiny amounts of this plant and flower.

Re: Your favourite flowers..

I do love to have flowers in my front window as it brightens it up but I prefer my flowers to be in the garden.

I have lots of Rose bushes of different varieties and they look beautiful when in bloom.

We have some flowering now and I go out each day to see them. Brightens my mood to see them.

Re: Your favourite flowers..

We have wild lilacs which I love bringing into the house but these shrubs grow 20' high or so, so I have to get the lower branches. Plus have to put them where the birds don't constantly peck at the, since they're out all day. I just adore the scent of apple & cherry blossoms. I bought an apple tree that was covered in blossoms last spring so this is the 1st spring here on our property. I hope it blooms well. I wanted my own so I could smell it all I wanted in privacy

Re: Your favourite flowers..

Sweet Peas are incomparable for scent, shape, colour & free flowering over along period.

Love giving away bunches to visitors,

Never see them in florists.

Lilac........ my mother wouldn't have them in the house, Stupid superstitions die hard.
Lilies........my grandmother wouldn't have them in the house
Older generation association with funerals.
