Re: Wrapping up for winter...

My Camelia is in a massive pot against the house wall. It does get the early morning sun so maybe I should move it.
I'll just see if this covering works and if not it looks like being put somewhere else..

Re: Wrapping up for winter...

I love Cordylines, but the ones I have had in the past have lost them to the frost.
So yes, they do need protecting as shown in photees.

Re: Wrapping up for winter...

Do you think it's ok to unwrap them now or should I leave the covers on a bit longer?

Re: Wrapping up for winter...

I wrap my pots in polythene over winter. I will leave it a few more weeks before I unwrap them.
Thanks for the tip Carol, my neighbours lost a beautiful Cordyline a couple of winters ago, they have recently bought another one. I will pass on your advice to them.

Re: Wrapping up for winter...

I've still got bubble wrap over my Camellias because we're still getting night frosts.
It's so annoying because some are in full bloom and I can't see the lovely flowers, but the frost will take the buds if I don't.
The Rhodedendrons are more hardy though, I've got the pot wrapped and put thick bark chips over the surface compost, but the plant itself is uncovered.

This should be of help, Carol:

Dammit. I can't get the link right. The above one is the RHS, but it should have taken you to the Cordyline page.
If you just put Cordylines into their search box you should see the info on winter care, Carol.
