OK. I walk 100 yards to the Surgery, just as some prisoners were being ejected by yellow coated surgery guards.

"You cannot come in, they said, "get an appointment by phone or through the on line system".

OK.

Step 1 : rang reception to try to speak to a doctor. No luck. The queue was big and the phone response includes two massive recordings explaining everything from Corvid to other stuff.

Valid - if you only have to hear it once!

Anyway, I was put in a queue and given a magic waiiting number. When it rang I Was CUT OFF.

Went round again, twice.

Gave up & went to the online login.

Nice set of instructions, one of which was to set up to speak to a doctor - tried it - but it didn't connect me to a doctor.

Spent another hour and then gave up.

Surely I'm not the only one with these issues?

Wouldn't a second person, on the phones, be more efficient - voice is always better than recordings.

The last try was when I was told (in one of the messages)to contact the practice to to get a registration number for logging in to online above and linking me to the Practice.

Tried that - and the the whole roundabout starts all over again!.

I have some experience3 of using on line - but it might be my fault.

Other experiences, please?

Note: Just read that Doctors are increasingly surprised that fewer people are visiting them, since Corvid!

There's a thought!!!
All happened again today.

Ran out of Blood Thinner Tablets (Apixaban).
Checked Doctor email which said they would be at the Chemist by now.
Chemist said No prescription. Gave me emergency supply for a week & said Contact Doctor (3rd mess in in a row!)
However, just checked the last empty box & last prescription and both have written on "56 tablets to be taken, two a day, for a month".

Just realised what is going wrong!

I'm going to ask these highly qualified medics "How Many days are there in a month?"

Only February would fit!

It seems that some GP surgeries are worse than others. I can't complain, as mine is quite good.

However, if you are constantly meeting with such incompetence, you have a couple of options.

In the short term, you could attend your nearest A&E department and tell them of your concerns.

You could also complain on your GP's review site. I think most practices have one.

In the longer term, complain by telephone, followed up in writing, to your local health authority.

my husband was waiting for an appointment to see an eye specialist, just after lockdown he had a missed call from the specialist who left a message telling him to ring the hospital, asked to be put through to the eye clinic...so he phoned the hospital and asked to be put through to the clinic...got put through...and the message was....there's nobody here just now...and there won't be anybody here until july..

Re: Getting To Speak To Your Doctor?

I don't know about getting a doctor's appointment but I've finally got face-to-face dentist's and hygienist's appointments for 2 weeks time.
