Government Loses its Working Majority

As Phillip Lee crosses the floor and joins the Lib Dems.

The conservatives are now a minority, minority party.

It's made my day that he has gone off to be a limp dem.

I'm just hoping that he has left our constituency and that we'll get a Leave supporting replacement.

Nah - he is a Lib Dem. You won't be able to have a by-election. Their hypocrisy doesn't allow it.

Glad he is isn't our MP Tedc. At least we have a Brexit supporting MP, Owen Paterson. He's had a couple of earfuls from me in his e-mail at the House of Commons.

Re: Government Loses its Working Majority

If he stands at GE for the LD will be unlikely to return to Westminster. His constituency voted leave.

Tory Philip Lee insisted after the referendum, in which 53.2 per cent of his Bracknell constituents voted Leave: "The British people have spoken. It is now the duty of all Parliamentarians to respond.”

He said that ignoring the view of the electorate would “entrench divisions and accentuate the distrust and disenfranchisement which we urgently need to address.”

If Boris loses tonight and is forces to seek an extension, he could veto his own extension.

Oh the irony

Oh dear, after 3 years you haven’t noticed that the the 27 determine all things Brexit for the EU and the UK is excluded therefore has no power of veto.

Then again Boris is stupid enough to believe that he does

On the plus side, the odious Ken Clark and the despised Philip Hammond have had the whip withdrawn along with a few others.

Then he should read the renowned article 50, paragraph 4:

For the purposes of paragraphs 2 and 3, the member of the European Council or of the Council representing the withdrawing Member State shall not participate in the discussions of the European Council or Council or in decisions concerning it.
