Why Are Mongrels So Expensive?

I would love to have a dog again but l realise what a tie they are.
I have been looking and l am quite shocked at the prices they are, especially for anything with a ‘poo’ at the end.

I had a beautiful Labrador and the ‘ love of my life’, a toy poodle. If l could have those two dogs again, l would be the most happiest person in the universe. Of course, that will never happen but l am still looking.

I see lots of puppies ending in ‘poo’ f1, f2, the mind boggles! They are £900 plus. I am sorry but l wouldn’t pay that for a mongrel because, quite frankly, that’s what they are.

Please don’t tell me to get a rescue dog, l have had two of those in the past and both bit my children and they weren’t even doing anything! It was to do with jealousy and greed for food.

Anyway, l am still looking... and l will know the dog that is right for me, when l see it.

I agree with you Art, they are just two Mongrels mated together.
I would liked to have a dog, but not with Coco and also I think its too late in life for me to have one.

No mongrels these days they are all designer dogs, sadly many are very badly suited to be crossed. Our rescue takes in a lot of chihuahua x jack russels and I have yet to meet one didn't want to take a chunk out of anyone it met.

Susie, You seem fit enough, so why not get a dog?

Julie, Yes, they may be designer dogs and what the punters want!
The bottom line is, they are still mongrels and that’s why the Kennel Club won’t recognise them.

Oh I completely agree art, we went far and wide to get our betty chihuahua round here all we could find were crosses. Chis are fiesty enough without adding size or more feistiness to them.

I accept that getting a rescue can be a bit of a gamble. Maybe we just got lucky. Or he responded to how he is cared for.

Julie, l am still so jealous that you have a poodle. I just adore them and would love to have lots of poodles in all the colours available!

While we wouldn't part as we are in love, the grooming is a bit of a bogger art, we used to have a yorkie and that was a two hour job to groom him said we'd never do that again and here we are grooming again.

Besoeker, l would say, we were just unlucky. The first was a poodle who was fiercely jealous o o e of my daughters and bit her face when she came near me.

The second was a Flatcoated Retriever who got my 2 years old daughter’s head in his mouth, as he thought my daughter would get my husband’s dinner.
The Rescue people did admit after, that they had no history for him and he had been returned a few times.
