I had a look at Checkatrade website this afternoon and found it interesting. It seems there are loads of roofers around, I am just worried as to how I know I would pick someone genuine.

Sadly, I have found many times over the years, that there are some traders who will take advantage of us women.

If this chap doesn't give me satisfactory answers on Tuesday, that'll definitely be it. He won't be getting a third chance.

I'll let you know what happens.

A local group on Facebook may be worth a look.
Or your area on nextdoor.co.uk but this has had mixed reviews.

This website is a good read relating to how to pick a tradesman, the do's and don'ts, is well worth a read.

Re: I'd like your thoughts please.

Just a quick update for those who tried to help.

I finally got an apology from a doctor at the surgery yesterday.
In fact this one looked genuinly shocked, and said sorry about four times!
I asked if the doctor who made the mistake had been made aware of his error, and this one said he would email him right away.

He was very kind and supportive, so I decided to leave it at that now.
I appreciated his kindness and apology.

Regarding the roofing bloke - he has let me down again today.
He promised he would telephone today to sort this out and he hasn't, so that's the end of him now. He has now blown the second chance I gave him.

My enquiry to a neighbour about her builder came to nothing as well, except she was able to recommend another one - who is on holiday in Turkey at the mo!
He does sound worth waiting for though, and he only lives about 8 houses along the road. She spoke very well of him.

I will maybe wait for him to come back next week, or otherwise start from scratch with a workman from the 'Buy with Confidence' website.
My electrician belongs to that, and they seem to be well vetted there.

I just hope I can the job done before the weather turns cold and wet.

Thanks once again for everyone who offered their thoughts.
