I'm finding it harder to remove the ink off last years cards so I can recycle them.....

I used to get two pages of first class stamps every year at Christmas when I was a postman, but now I have to buy my own. We send about fifty cards out every year to friends and family, but some local ones we deliver on foot or I drive out to see special friends and have a catch up.
I never send e cards, it just doesn't bode well with me, and even though one member of the family send us an e card, they usually post one as well.
We put strings up and display them over the festive period, and when we take them down I like to go through them, thinking fondly about the people who sent them...
I think that 70p is excellent value for a first class stamp on mail that will be delivered next day (hopefully) anywhere in the UK...
The fact that royal mail has been sold out to private investors (probably foreign) is a disgrace, as now greedy shareholders will want their cut hence the escalating prices....
