If one of a couple does not pay income tax they can transfer up to £1,000 of their tax-free allowance to their partner resulting in a tax saving of £212/annum. You can register your interest in this at "gov.uk/marriageallowance" ready for when it comes into force. It will pay for my gin for a year !
Re: Transfer of Tax-Free allowance to Your Partner.
About time they brought something like this back, years ago I used to give my allowance to my husband as I wasn't using it. Never understood why they changed it.
Re: Transfer of Tax-Free allowance to Your Partner.
When it talks about income including pensions, savings & investments, I trust they mean INCOME (eg. interest) from savings & investments. Must get Mrs.G to look into this.
