Stay off opiates imho Carol.

Addictive and won't do you any good long term.

FIL popped them daily and died in his 70s

No - I meant I've taken them at the same time as other painkillers.

2 x 30mg codeine
2 x200 mg Ibuprofen
2 x 500 mg paracetamol.

The above taken all in one dose.

This was my regular dose prescribed by doctor for the pain of bursitis.

I can't understand the sudden violent reaction I had to them last Friday..

It's your body telling you...enough.... it can't cope with so much in one go. That's my theory anyway but of course I'm not a doctor.

Carol I know you had a lot of pain with Bursitis, but my doctor told me not to take paracetamol & Ibuprofen at the same time, when I had to take both for my broken wrist.
I would ask your doctor why you need to take 3 different types of pain killer & get confirmation that it is safe to take them in one dose.
Ibuprofen can also cause stomach problems if you don't take them after you have eaten, so they ,may have caused you to be sick!

Wow. 6 in one go?
I am not surprised your tummy protested!

I would double check that with a pharmacist, Carol.

Re: Codeine & sickness.

I simply hate taking tablets anyway so always check and double-check with the GP or pharmacist before taking anything. Also being on daily medication for heart problems I have to be very careful, taking Ibuprofen or using any gel containing if for instance, is not possible.

An interesting website with some useful links at the end which might be useful:

Another website to check out is the NHS website giving advice on painkillers:

Me neither surprised . Thing is what kind of pain justifies that dose?
I wouldn’t dare take them

Neither would I !

That doesn't sound right at all, to me, even in staggered doses, but 6 in one go????

Carol, did you ever check with a pharmacist?
