Vitamins for general health

I'm always a bit sceptical as to whether or not taking vitamins makes any difference to our health. Is it just a money-making con?

Which vitamins, if any, do you take? I'm not talking medicines or antibiotics but vitamins which can be bought over the counter?

I take a cod liver oil capsule and a D3 one too.

I also currently take a Wellman tablet which includes supposedly 32 different vitamins in one pill. I'm wondering if broken down into individual vitamins, that one tablet actually makes any difference to my wellbeing?

What about you?

I used to take vitamins but figured if I eat right I can get all my essential vitamins through food.

I have taken Vit C and I have to have a B12 injection every three months as I have pernicious anaemia

I don't take any vitamins whatsoever . Most doctors poo pooh them and they probably are a moneymaking con . I don't doubt Vit C can help if you're fighting off a cold tho .
We're supposed to get all we need from eating healthily ?

Aren't you doubling up there, Floydy?

I might be wrong, but Cod Liver Oil already contains Vit.D, so why take it twice?

I don't take any vitamins. Somehow I am still alive! I do eat a balanced diet and have a fresh squeezed orange juice most mornings.

I used to take cod liver oil and then I went for a vit D test and I was borderline deficient. So go figure. I don't bother now so I am probably destroying my bones and such, but who cares when we will all fall apart eventually

I think that those who cannot absorb nutrients properly do need them but anyone who has normal health is wasting their time and money.

It's the specific vitamin D3 I take separately, Mups, which is essential for night workers like myself who are not exposed to natural sunlight. I do think it makes a difference as I tend to function better taking them.

Cod liver oil I take to keep my joints supple because I often don't do enough stretching exercises after a workout.

I do agree that a good, balanced diet should contain most of our essential vitamins and minerals naturally. Sometimes we need extra ones according to our lifestyle though

I don't take anything other than cod liver oil capsules. All the vits/minerals I need are in my food.
