Re: Woman stopped at Turkish border

Not an AU or NZ problem, she's comming from Syria, if the Turks don't want her she can go back to Syria, as wisely stated above, let Assad sort it out

Re: Woman stopped at Turkish border

Hi

It is sad but necessary.

We cannot put them on trial in Western Countries, our laws are not set up for ISIS.

We will need to produce evidence beyound all reasonable doubt.

This means producing witnesses, informers and victims.

This is impossible, they and there families would be wide open to retaliation.

Our security services will not release evidence as they would then how have to disclose how they got it.

This would be a great advantage to the terrorists.

Justice is shown in statues as holding a set of scales.

The balance is this, which is more important?

The lives of innocents or those who seek to kill us.

I feel sorry for the children, but we cannot let them in until mother gives them up for adoption and loses all visitation rights.

Mother should not be allowed in.

If there is talk of giving someone a chance then there are much more deserving people than this women .. If she had not be born in NZ we wouldnt even be worrying about her children just as most people dont worry about all the others in Syria Yemen etc etc.
They are only little the earlier they get away form the bad influence of their mother the better.

Looks like most of Australia is behind SM on this .
The woman is 26 she went to Australia at 6 and to Syria at 19.
Australia owes her nothing .

Re: Woman stopped at Turkish border

From reading Bruce's input, then it's easy. The kids go to Australia, she goes on trial in Turkey for illegal entry, and then she can find a refugee camp or appeal to NZ.

Now, it's NZ's turn to deal with her. They can do as they will.

Turkey will likely deport her across the border. If she's lucky she'll make it to a refugee camp. Perhaps she'll find safety with those in her sect, but it doesn't look like the stuff of a happy Hollywood ending.

A law was passed in 2018 that anyone involved WITH isis can face up to 10 years in jail.
