Cleaning grout

Any suggestions for the best thing to use to clean grout between floor tiles? I've been scrubbing away on my kitchen floor with some very slow success, but think there must be an easier way!

Re: Cleaning grout

I personally would just trickle a line of bleach along the grout leave it and then clean as usual!

Re: Cleaning grout

Coincidentally this is a task I am doing at the moment. Aren't we lucky?

I've got a specialist grout cleaner from Homebase (other DIY chains are available) - it's a nasty caustic sort of thing but it works pretty well, though it needs elbow grease

I think it's grease which is the main problem with the cleaning, so perhaps even a solution of 'washing soda' would be a good degreaser before you tried with a detergent-type

I've heard people praise Cillit-Bang but I think it's a bit fierce and likely to dissolve your tiles!!!

Whatever you try best to do a test patch somewhere non-vital first

Good luck - let me know if you find a miracle product

Re: Cleaning grout

I just use a grout pen to touch up the mucky areas

Re: Cleaning grout

Bleach and scrubbing brush are having some effect. Problem is partly trampled in grime from workmen, which I should have tackled sooner...

Bleach and old toothbrush is the method I use too.

Re: Cleaning grout

One of those handheld steam cleaners with a narrow nozzle might work. Question is it actually grout or tile cement, grout I suspect would be too soft for floor tiles
