Would she be allowed to ? I was given to understand there were strict laws concerning donated sperm and eggs !

Yes there are, the HFEA does have strict guidelines, what makes you think that this particular donation wouldn't be 'allowed'?

As well as donating sperm, eggs and embryos for use in fertility treatment, donations are made for research purposes also.

Well I daftly I guess assumed a man or woman would have to actively agree to donation before their eggs and sperm were given away.

No not daft to assume, but if the sperm now 'technically' belongs to her (and I don't know if it does or not) then she can consent to it being given for donation, but she may again have to apply to the courts in the absence of her husband's consent.

As you say, there are strict rules and guidelines in regards to this.
