Roxy, I understand perfectly what you mean there.
They kept trying to put me on BP tablets because my readings were so high, but I had a feeling it was only because I was there, and I didn't want to be.
I refused the meds until I knew for sure that they were needed.

I bought my own monitor from Boots, took three readings a day for seven days, all perfectly normal.
Typed out the results and gave it to the doctors. One doctor commented my BP was better than his!

So glad I didn't go on their pills.

Now that's a good idea Mups, I have to see the Doctor in two weeks time. Think I'll give that a go.....Thanks.

You see, I am very, very surprised by this. Doctors should realise that "white coat syndrome", that is, the effect on volatile systems like blood pressure, is a very real thing, and one-off readings should really not be a basis for prescribing long-term medications.

I do sometimes think that they take the easy way out.

You did absolutely the right thing in monitoring your BP yourself in a relaxed environment.
