What are cold weather payments? - Info.

Cold weather payments are cash boosts (for paying energy bills) for those on certain benefits when the weather gets especially cold. You get £25 per week if the temperature drops to below zero celsius (or is predicted to) for seven consecutive days between 1 Nov to 31 March.

Don't confuse this with winter fuel payments for the over 60's which are automatically paid each year.

You may be eligible ......

It`s pretty unlikely for us southern peeps - the temperature has to be below freezing day and night for a whole week. Not very likely is it?

It was last year - just one. Wow that £25 really helped!
