It seems there was more to this than first thought. We're told that he was defending two gays who were being abused. It is very difficult to only punch so hard as is necessary to stop aggression. Lets wait for further information.

Whatever the 'truth' of the incident the camera doesn't lie and Stokes was clearly seen to be fighting outside a nightclub which is not a good image for someone who represents his country in a sport and is a mentor to the young.

Now the legal proceedings have been completed, both Ben Stokes and Alex Hales who was also involved in the incident will still have to face The Cricket Discipline Commission, maybe they won't be so lenient.

But if Stokes was actually defending these gay men or should he walk away?
By the way I'm not defending Stokes even if he was born in New Zealand, he does seem somewhat arrogant.

He said somewhere he had 8 shots of spirits but didn't feel drunk - bullsh1t! - can hold his booze can he - his legal team decided NOT to use the two gay guys as witnesses - interesting - I would have thought they would have been a great asset to the case? - it smells - whispers in the judges backroom?

He has previous with drink related incidents, he was sent back from 2013 tour of Australia for flouting rules. He fractured his hand thumping locker because of being dismissed early in a match, clearly with or without alcohol has anger management problem.

If cricket authority does not help him deal with these issues then I doubt his behaviour will change.
