This is a reason I personally don't want a republic the chances of someone that destroys us being voted for is far too great. At the moment we have checks and balances stop any real despot taking over.
All the above political moves have been between very slightly different parties we have never really seen a proper left party gain power nor thankfully a very right wing one.

We are about 1800 years in front of America and Mr Trump.
Some Roman bloke came over here and built a wall, but it hasn't done any good...

Cleverer - and even more entertaining - is his late brother, Christopher. His anti-Muslim diatribes (on e.g. YouTube) should appeal to the many Islamophobes who subscribe to this forum.

Oh I don't know. It kept the Scots out for a few hundred years so it served its purpose.
