Well we have Russia killing people ‘often’ in the uk and around the world , we have Saudi denying anything and everything about Turkish holidays and now we have USA denying they are in Spain .... yeah right !

According to El Pais, Spain asked for clarification from the CIA but the US spy agency denied any involvement.
Spanish authorities however said the response was 'not very convincing'.
The report said the CIA acted 'in probable cooperation' with South Korean intelligence services.

Yes, so maybe the CIA was involved in the breakin. The public is never aware of all of the workings of security in any country, and that's as it should be. Yes staff was tied up and put through a scare but no guns were real, so no threat of true harm could be done.

Yes, perhaps it was to obtain documents to help with the meeting with North Korea. There could be much speculation as to why the powers chose a breakin rather than asking outright for the dossiers. Perhaps they didn't want Spain to grant that decision and cause rifts. If South Korea was part of it, they are allies of both the US and Spain. Whatever the reason, it is the CIA' need to never reveal it's activity or its members involvement.

You are a smart man, you know all this already. This is a feeble attempt to point a finger at the important security of all nations. Perhaps if more is forthcoming, you can add to this thread. So far, I can't see any earthshaking news to discuss.

I do wish that American governments concentrated on governing America and stopped causing wars across the world, supposedly for strategic interests which really means for the benefit of Big Business.

Hmm, it is something to consider, Todger. Perhaps America should concentrate more on its own problems. But then, when a war does break out between two nations, most likely from a bully country who wants to rule a smaller county, maybe Russia and England say for example, are you saying America should continue to tend to its own, and not butt in nor protect the country needing backup? Being as the US didn't start that war!?

Something to ponder....?

Russia is constantly being presented as the same threat that was the case with the USSR though even that threat was pure BS after the mid 60's.

America should indeed keep within its own borders just as it did in the case of WW1 and WW2 with US big business such as IBM for one selling whatever they could wherever they could and whenever they could until the government realised that there was a real danger to themselves.

Had it not been for the highly suspect Zimmerman Telegram in the case of WW1 and Japan, a full blown member of the Axis powers bloodied the nose of the USA at Pearl Harbour there is no doubt that the US government would have continued to be happy to listen to the "Ching" of the cash register rather than the bugle call.

Then there's the little matter of the first test of the Atom bomb. There were very real concerns that it would set off an atmospheric chain reaction, in fact the academic jury was still very much out but the military went ahead anyway.

And so much more. Other little things closer to home include the test of chemical weapons distribution methods by the release of what was known to be carcinogenic material over our very own Norfolk!

Sorry, I'm no fan of the US government or what they do. Given the choice I would prefer the Russian Federation over the USA any day of the week.

It's good we all share some points that rankle us. A different perspective on all sides, to be sure. Everyone benefits, and no one has to agree.

Perhaps you should stay more loyal to the Russian Federation, it's a better fit for your own views. Me? I'm loyal to the US.for the same reason.

This is from a country with a government that has spent two years not being able to negotiate an agreement to leave the EU and which is now daily ruling out every other option. Are you serious?

There are 650 bottys in Westminster alone who need smacking before anyone in the UK starts looking at foreign bottys to smack.

If nothing else Britain has shown why it can never be a real democracy because the loonies are in charge of the asylum.

well said Bruce and they keep on ruling with impunity because in this great democracy 60% of the electorate exercise their democratic right NOT TO VOTE! How ridiculous is that?

they do say sometimes say " you always get the govt you neglected to oppose" and UK performs this principle superbly!
