I thought at first the sentence wasn't long enough but listening to the radio yesterday it seems the justice system in Scotland is different and he is actually unlikely to ever be released, it's a proper life sentence when they say 27 to life. You have to do something really spectacular to actually win your freedom at any point.Re: Alesha MacPhail

In the UK life does mean life though the period banged up is usually defined when the sentence is passed (the tariff) after which time the perp can be released but on license and with conditions set out.
