Re: Unaided..Doule-bounce or Pull-up?

Poor you Rhian! I know just how you feel. I hate to admit it, but I love my bubble bath on a Friday evening. I have no problem stepping into the bath, but.... he who must obey has to help me out of it as no matter how hard I try, I just cannot get the balance right any more in being able to hoist myself up. It went from being able to do that, to turning round on my knees and holding on to the towel rail (which eventually gave way and broke!) to now me having to have my significant half hoisting me up from under my arms. Weep!

He keeps trying to persuade me to make life easier for myself, (or him!) and get one of those stools that one can sit on whilst in the bath. I politely replied by telling him to get stuffed! (such a lady!) but that's not a soak in a bubble bath! that's a necessity to be able to wash one's self with a flannel or sponge! I can do that with my daily shower, thank you very much.

No, I'm afraid it's simply another case of ...You know you are old when ..........

Luckily there were no kids in the room so I bounced my bum on my heels a couple of times to get enough momentum to stand

I'm thinking it wont be long before I won't be able to do that any more either...Then I'm going to need to pull myself up with my hands (Or someone else's!)

How do you get out of squatting?

Rhian darlin' - invest in purchasing one of these:

https://alexnld.com/product/foldable...20group%20%231

Having metal hips and knees I can't bend, stoop or kneel at all and so picking things off the floor ain't easy, I therefore have a couple of these - one in the bedroom (it helps me to dress) and t'other right beside me here in the lounge which I use to pick up things from the floor.

I guess I must be lucky then. I put it down to years of athletics and cycling. Still got powerful legs. I can crush a grape between my thighs. Used to be a coconut.

Many years ago I used to work at rowntrees on the estates dept, the old chap that used to pick up litter and stuff, used one of these, non foldable type things, made by glasdon, so we called it ..the glasdon grasper...come to think of it, it sounds like, a Victorian gentleman up to no good....

Rowntrees in York Primus?
My best mate used to work there in the 60's-70's. Used to make Smarties.

We did a lot of electrical work at Rowntrees Halifax before they were taken over by Nestle (pronounced nessles in those days ). A lot of the damaged or broken Matchmakers that came off the production line were bagged up and sold as pig food. The same with `Mishapes` which used to be sold at half-a-crown a bag. What a waste.
