Things are moving.

Hi

Preparations for Brexit are on the move.

Next week will be interesting as Industry reacts to what it has to do.

Looks interesting Swimmy?
I hope we are only going to make a temporary facility as we
should allready be sourcing alternative sources of supplies to the
EU?
Which will probably need to be brought in by ship to various other
ports around the uk for distribution, thus avoiding the present
bottleneck of Dover?
This will also remove our reliance on eu and also the risk of EU
using this reliance as a means of influencing our decisions in the
future?

Donkeyman! 👍👍😁😁👍👍

All this talk of the Frogs blockading Dover and possibly other ports, yet we hear nothing about the Channel Tunnel.

I wonder whether they'll blockade their end of the line as well.

Hi

French fishermen will blockade anything.

It is a pointless exercise as we have left.

Hello JBR,

can you explain how the UK is intending to transport fruits, vegetables, maybe milk and stuff like that into the UK if all these things are being sourced from outside the EU?

I thought if you intend sourcing from e. g. north Afrika, north/south Amerika, Turkey and other non-EU countries then you woukdn't need the tunnel anyway, right?

If you transport all those goods by ship then you are fine, again no problem.

I assure you that I have absolutely no need of the Channel Tunnel.

We live on an island. Consequently, we have two means of transporting any goods of any kind, if you exclude the Tunnel: by air or by ship.

How about bananas?
How do they come here?
How do they come to Europe because, as far as I'm aware, bananas don't grow in Europe?

Europe is unnecessary for the supply of our food.
We even survived for five years during the war without the aid of Europe with regard to food.

Surprisingly, perhaps, we can even supply our own milk!

Bananas arrive to Europe by ship and they ripe on their way. Milk shouldn't be a problem. All hardware, clothes and common stuff comes from China anyway. That maybe leaves supplies for the industry. Those are not so time critical which is another argument for not needing the tunnel.

As I said, no problem at all. Furthermore congestions at the ends of the tunnel are avoided.

The problem with your own production of fruit and vegetables seems not to be producing it, but harvesting. At least without foreign workers. Allowing the entry of a foreign work force would kind of sink the immigration bill.

One thing you can always rely on Country File for and that's to paint a not exactly rosy glow on any report it looks at. I find that almost 100% of all Tom Heaps reports are so biased and left-leaning, they would fall over if they weren't propped up by one reckless counterpoint voice.

As for mangoes and avocados, I won't eat them because to do so would be to support the Mexican drugs cartels who are moving into normal agriculture by force.
