Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Ok, so I feel conflicted.

In hospital they threw everything at me in terms of antibiotics all to no avail and sent me home with paracetamol. Now the paracetamol masks high temperatures and I think I am using it this way.

Although I have/am been pretty ill, I know that if I stopped taking the paracetamol and phoned the heamotology line with my elevated temperatures of 38.9 or 39.5 or so, then they would take me in and the whole hospital process would start again. And that wasn't particularly nice but with all the canulas for antibiotics and for whatever else they decided to give me would lower my blood temperature.

But I don't want to do it; I'm already fairly ill with symptoms the doctores at the hospital were at a loss to explain. I just want time out of hospital because I'd be sick there as well as at home. It's Catch-22. The doctors did say that they thought it pretty unlikely that lymphoma was causing my symptoms but cancer is sneaky so I can't rule it out.

Perhaps you could give some opinions, Sweetie, otherwise the thread is pointless.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Hi

I regularly refuse hospital because they just prat about, at least locally.

Not a very sensible thing to do, but prefer to be at home.

In the end it is all about personal preferences and decisions and these you have to make yourself.

The medics are not always right, 29 years ago I was told I would never walk again and was given a compulsory medical discharge from work.

Stuff that for a game of marbles, I have been backpacking with my son and went back to work

There are things I cannot do, wade in a fast river for one, but so much that I can.

You do what is best for you, nobody else can take that decision, and enjoy every last minute of life.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

I am terribly sorry you are having such a rotten week, Ffosse.

The good news is that your immune system is still working as it should by giving you a fever. As miserable as it is, that hot and cold roller coaster means that your body is doing its job. Along with the antibiotics for your chest, you should be beginning to feel some improvement in a few days.

The other good news is that it sounds like the head of the practice at your G.P. office is invested in your health. I would ask her if you could centralize as much care and communication through her directly, if possible. I think she cares, Ffosse.

Since you do have a chest infection, I just have to say it; I really wish you would try not to vape - at least until the chest infection clears. Your lungs are working overtime right now .

How are you eating? You need plenty of fuel to boost your immune system further. Good advice on the yogurt.

I have to agree with Sweetie Pie that it's a great idea to see your psychiatrist more often. What you are going through - interrupted sleep, fever, changes in medications, stress - would wreak havoc with neurotransmitters, affecting anyone's thinking and sense of well-being. If you aren't getting the support you need, might your psychiatrist help you arrange for better advocacy when you are home?

I know you feel too poorly to get out tomorrow, and I can't say I blame you. You might want to make sure you call the hospital, explain your situation. and insist that the head of practice who has been so helpful. calls you later in the day. Please make sure you set up an appointment later in the week. If you haven't heard from your doctor by three, call again.

It's so wise of you to keep a little background noise going and to take advantage of podcasts and all the other types of media streaming available to you. That said, are you turning off the screens at a reasonable hour so you can sleep?

While you have this fever, your sleep will be off. Don't worry about that - just sleep when you need to and try to get back to a regular pattern when it is over.

You keep fighting that fight, Ffosse, because there are better days ahead. You sound like you are on top of your situation and you have a lot of people here who are behind you.

Take care.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Ffosse how are you today? You haven't posted so just wanted to check what your day was like and whether you have made any progress in getting more support. I'm disappointed that you are being moved from pillar to post without any real decision being made. I really think they should be looking further afield for advice from specialists around the country and abroad. I'm surprised your doctors don't have access to more information in this day and age. After all this must have happened to other people who have had lymphoma or chemotherapy. Have they done an MRI of your brain or checked for an infection of the heart lining?

Just catching up.

My opinion????
PTSD what you have been through Dreamy.
You need that to be recognised.
The infections?? I am not qualified to say.

Please keep us all updated.
I'm now worried as you have not posted again.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

I didn't post yesterday because I was having alternating fever and exhaustion at the same time. Such terrible life-like dreams!

All seems better today, though as I've awoken with no temperature.

Thanks for your good wishes and support and yes, I do trust my GP more than the hospital.
