Central heating Woes

We have had central heating put in and it was switched on on Friday .
It has a nest thermostat.
Since then the beggar hasn't done anything.
The radiator won't come on and the nest says heating but never does .
I'm cold .
I supose I will have to light the wood stove as usual .
I HATE TECNONOLOGY !

Re: Central heating Woes

Before the central heating people left on Friday the heaters came on ok then they left and they haven't come on since .
The nest thing when set to anything i.e. 23 never moves at all its been 19 ever since they left which is the unheated temperature of the house .

Did the installers not go through the heating controls with you after completion, with regard to programming etc?

Have been out of the game for 10 years and had never heard of the NEST thingy.

Think most boilers have a switch you can turn on without the thermostat.

You were lucky to get them there at all on a Friday.

Re: Central heating Woes

Hi

I have just fitted a WIFI thermostat to the gas boiler.

I had to turn the boiler off and set the stat the first time I used it, after that it is fine.

Re: Central heating Woes

My heating engineers were recommending nest wireless but we went with honeywell wired. It works ok but it's just fiddly setting it up to an hourly programme. I would never go for completely wireless. I like being wired! Anyway it works ok. I think all these widgets are a gimmick considering the old technology worked fine. Yes you can check online but so can the world and his dog as they are so hackable.
