Beggars Banquet

Acclaimed Stones LP issued 6 Dec 1968.

I'm sure there's some here who have a favourite track or two.
Not me though,It's all too depressing.

Re: Beggars Banquet

Gotta be Street Fighting Man for me, PS. For years I thought it was by The Who!

Absolutely. It would have fitted in really well on "Quadrophenia" if it was a little later on. Plus Daltrey used to love a scrap as well!

Re: Beggars Banquet

As much as I like the Who, the band were comparative "lightweights" in the late '60's:

The Who Hits

1968 "Call Me Lightning","Dogs","Magic Bus"
1969 "Pinball Wizard", "I'm Free"

The Stones Hits

1968 "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Street Fighting Man"
1969 "Sympathy for the Devil", "Honky Tonk Women"

No mate, that's nonsense. You're just judging bands on hit singles. And do you realise that those two Who songs were from 'Tommy', one of the biggest albums of the 1960's?
To those who say that a band "can't be any good because they didn't have many hits" I always mention three acts:
Van Morrison, Pink Floyd and in particular Led Zeppelin - they never released a UK single yet had nine No.1 albums in their career and are still the biggest-selling rock act of all time. Bigger than the Stones, Queen or anyone else of that genre. I'll stop there as I'm in danger of turning into Realist lol

I'm on a roll now...
Look at the biggest band of them all. The Beatles didn't even release singles from their albums after 1966 but their albums were massive.
And then there's the Eagles....

Obviously, you know nothing about the period, because you weren't there .....

Comparative albums for the period:

The Who

The Who Sell Out Released: 15 December 1967
Tommy Released: 23 May 1969
Who's Next Released: 14 August 1971

The Stones

Their Satanic Majesties Request Released: 8 December 1967
1968 Beggars Banquet Released: 6 December 1968
1969 Let It Bleed Released: 5 December 1969
1971 Sticky Fingers Released: 23 April 1971

The Who were never at that time, or ever, in the same league as the Stones - I bought all the records, I saw the bands live ..... at the time ..... you're only playing catch-up ......

Popularity is not always a guide to quality .....
